Description/Exam

This masterpiece crafted by the hands of an elven silversmith has
an engraved rampaging gryphon etched into the pewter.  The extended
talons each grasp a glowing amber pearl.  When worn, the rampaging
gryphon clings to the rim of the ear.

• First, one must get the parchment from skeleton in the cottage.
  • The skeleton is immune to slashing and non-magic weapons (just like the randomly wandering mist). **Then go to the 'Stones of Worship' room and "look rose" while you have the parchment in your inventory. A golden key will fall out. This opens a "trapdoor" in the cottage.
  • Go back to the cottage, open the trapdoor and go down. Dig to find a rampaging gryphon. Then dig up to exit the basement.
• Now you need to get the pearls.
  • Go to the Mage Lake room. After each repop, there will be the message 'A gentle wave brushes quietly across the sand.' Ignore the one about the 'waves', it gives nothing.
  • Dig to uncover "a clam shell". Open it, and the slimy insides will jump out at you. It's a simple 2-3 round fight, but the thing has iceshield and fireshield. About 30% of the time, it will pop an "amber pearl". You need two pearls to make one ear cuff.
  • After this, go to 'A Garden of Healing Herbs' or 'Graveyard of Polished Stones' rooms and find the gravekeeper. Give him the rampaging gryphon, then one pearl. He'll return the gryphon. Give it to him again, and give him the second pearl.
• You can repeat the above process as many times as you please and then kill the gravekeeper to get however many you've made. It's a moderately easy fight for any avatar and, most importantly, if you stun him it's a lot easier. Otherwise, he summons a mob that is actually quite difficult. If you can stun it, by god, stun it.
