What seems to be a massive diamond-shaped boulder protrudes from the cavern wall.

Information

  • Area: The Barren Wastes
  • Status: Neutral
  • Alignment: Neutral
  • Race: Titan
  • Class: Warrior
  • Level Range: 50-55
  • Affected By: None (casts sanctuary soon into the fight)

Description

This diamond-shaped object appears to be an oddly smooth stone,
flecks of moisture glinting in the dim light. The stone, however,
seems to contain long and organized cracks running throughout the
surface, creating small triangle shapes in a pattern that seems too
formulaic to have been randomly formed by the cracking of stone due
to old age.

Notes

This mob is part of a quest to make leather leggings with a feathered trim. A very powerful mob, likely to do 500 hp a round even if you have a full tankset on.

It casts sanctuary on itself soon into the fight, so try to do as much damage as possible before that happens. Make sure you use a faerie fire scroll on it, melee counts for a lot of damage as the fight wears on.

You can readily flee out, so stay on evasive style and set wimpy to 1000. It actually works out better if you DON'T quit - you don't get a round of lag from the kill command, so you can just waltz in, try shieldblock once and shieldbash for 2 or 3 rounds before you flee.

It uses acid quite a lot, and occasionally does acid breath. Make sure you have acidward/ice girth. It switches tanks.

If you are intending to solo the heart/head, keep in mind that you MUST kill the head before the heart repops, or the heart will instantly heal the head back to full. Yes, it does heal to perfect health from DYING in one round, from personal experience :<

If you need to repair/restock midfight (recommended), the recall room is the serpent head room. Flee, quit, walk back in and recall.

When it dies:

You wound The diamond-shaped head of a giant serpent!
The diamond-shaped head of a giant serpent is DEAD!!
As the head of the serpent crashes to the stone floor, one of its fangs cracks and splits from its root.
The ground quakes as a piercing screech resounds throughout the area.
The diamond-shaped head of a giant serpent splatters blood on your armor.
You see nothing like that in the corpse of The diamond-shaped head of a giant serpent.
You get a hefty fang from the corpse of The diamond-shaped head of a giant serpent.

Attach a hefty fang to the northwest statue at the beginning of this area, this opens up a northwest exit. The room has a chest which holds a small hide of brown scales.
