Definition

Magical items are items with the "magic" special property flag set. The flag's status can be determined by either identifying the item or by means of the detect magic spell.

Magical items do have some special properties:

  • They are more resistant to damage (they can take approximately 12 more points without damaging).
  • Damage caused by magical weapons is reduced or nullified by resistances or immunities to magic affecting the target.
  • Magical weapons cannot be further enhanced by the enchant weapon spell.
  • A magical item wears nothing when worn/held/wielded.
  • Magical containers nullify the weight of their content.

The magic flag was stripped from all magical containers in RoD's database in 1999 (I think). For example, the rune bag used to be magic.
