Main Page...

Just out of curiosity, thought I might mention.

When someone comes to the main page, they'd really like clickable links for the main sections, Mobs, Areas, Items, Classes/Races, etc. And, when you do click on areas, why is the first list of areas actually a list of Mob/Item lists for that area. For instance, if I go to the area page looking for something, say, on Mithril Hall, the first time I see Mithril Hall I click on it, but it's not a map or info on the area, it's a page with all the links to items and mobs.

just a thought, nothing more. Love the page.  :-)

  • That is a good observation. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about it since the only up to date list is the Areas category page :/ It is an issue, since newcomers will wonder where the actual areas are, but there's nothing effective that can be done about it, sadly :/. --Poromenos 07:57, 17 January 2007 (EST)

Information category

  • I think it might be preferable to have the section on the main page which is currently assigned to the Items category changed to the Information category. Items is largely incomplete and Information really does have some decent content in there. What do you reckon? -Tokai 05:16, 19 August 2007 (CDT)
    • I'd say that is a good idea, I have unlocked the homepage (since new user registration is disabled anyway) so you can have your way with it. --Poromenos 18:34, 19 August 2007 (CDT)

Still in progress, I'm not the best at layout, but wanted to try and outline all of the information that a portal into a video game would probably relay. Anyhow, thoughts? I understand that a lot of items still aren't populated and the class pages aren't very robust right now, but I think drawing people's attention to those pages should get them updated quicker than burying that information.

  • Hmm, indeed. I like it, update the frontpage if you want (do you have the ability? If not, I can do it) when you think it is good enough for it. --Poromenos 18:00, 28 May 2008 (CDT)

Areas Category

  • I've figured out a major flaw in the Areas category listing but you aren't going to like the fix Poromenos. Right now, If you go under Areas category, you get a subcategory for every single area. These subcategories are actually misplaced, because they aren't subcategories of Areas, they are actually subcategories of items and mobs. This would mean every single one of these pages has to have it's category listing updated. Once this is done, this will clean up the areas subcategories, which should technically only have Geos in it. Talk about an ugly amount of work, yikes. The easiest way to think about this is that once you enter a category, a subcategory should, for the most part, never link you to anything that isn't of the parent category. So if I go to "items" everything in there should be an item and everything in every subcategory underneath should be an item. Understanding this, technically the area subcategories should be broken up by mob and item. IE Category:Coral Depth Mobs / Category:Coral Depth Items. - Skace 00:43, 29 May 2008 (CDT)
    • Hmm, I think this is too much work just to change one category page... I don't think it's that big of a problem, really... --Poromenos 20:49, 29 May 2008 (CDT)
      • You're right, it is too much work. However there is a simpler suggestion, edit the category pages for the areas ie Category:Coral_Depths and remove it's connection to the Category:Areas. Or possibly attach them to a Category:Area Items and Mobs which could then be attached to areas. Anyhow, I'm not too concerned about this right now because I've begun working on the Areas page which should eventually turn into a portal people can use to jump back and forth to the various area pages.
