The Night King approaches...
Questnews
( 1) Zistrosk 10/09/17 The Night King approaches... Reports have come in from across the realms that mysterious ice fissures have been appearing in the ground, and in one instance an eye witness reported seeing an individual that fit the description of the legendary Night King creating the fissure simply by pointing his finger at the dirt. Upon close inspection, the Arcane Heraldry of Darkhaven have determined that the realms may be under attack, most likely by white walkers and other cold denziens. Duke Luther has asked that the heroes of the Realms gather once again, and help stave off this chilling turn of events. If allowed to progress, it surely cannot be good for the cities of light. Scapezist's Note: This quest will run throughout the month of October, with a climactic end-event at 8pm mud time on Monday, October 30th. This quest is for any level but non-AV questors should avoid fighting the mobs. Be IP1 in the area, and if player corpses are on the ground at a fissure please select another target to attack. Quest activity will be tallied automatically. Declare your quest character to me please before you start via tells/mudmail. Undeclared questors will recive no credit. AV Scoring will be a composite of all KBs. Non-AVs scoring will be the total of fissures disabled. If you have yet to start this quest you have until reboot the morning of the 29th to join.

( 2) Zistrosk 10/01/17 The Night King takes the Night Off The Night King lost his left shoe. Until he finds it, he is unable to continue his attack on the realms. Oh, and his shoelaces are gone. ( 2) Zistrosk 10/02/17 The Night King is back on the hunt after a relaxing night off The Night King found his formerly lost left shoe, and got a new set of laces. Now that he's all laced up, rested up, and done "chilling out", he's back in action. And so are his cold minion buddies. -Scapezist p.s. Jon Snow: You know nothing, Zistrosk. Mechanics
The Night King makes an appearance at random locations across the mud, turning the ground into an icy fissure and summoning a White Walker to protect the fissure.
A wide fissure underfoot is filled with the Night King's black ice. (Fade) A White Walker, servant to the Night King, narrows his eyes at you. White Walker is shrouded in flowing shadow and light.

Players search the room, and find valyrian steel spikes and valyrian steel masks. Non-AV players can spike the fissure to damage it for a time and weaken the forces of the Night King. AV
players can attack and kill the White Walkers, who lose a hand that will attack separately. When the White Walker is dead, the Night King resurrects the White Walker's corpse as a Wight. An AV player can fight the wight, who may also lose a hand that will attack separately.

A heavy half-foot long spike of valyrian steel lies at your feet.
The White Walkers are extremely hard unless the AV player is wearing a valyrian steel mask. The mask weakens them and makes fighting them much easier. A spiked fissure also weakened the White Walker and made the fight a little easier. Killing a White Walker has a high chance of causing the mask to fall to the ground and disintegrate.
The Night King only hangs around for a few seconds and is very hard to kill. There was a non-obvious way to get the Night King to stay, and killing him required a large group, but the one to get the KB on the Night King got a lot of points.
Once a non-AV has spiked a fissure, or an AV has killed a White Walker, they are unable to do another one for about two hours. There is no timer limit on summoning and killing the Night King.

Night King
The Night King stares at you with ice blue eyes of cool hatred. Here stands the supreme leader and first of the White Walkers, having existed since the age of the First Men. Older than the trees, this ancient being has been ageless since he was converted by a dark ritual cast by the Children of the Forest into a master of cold, dark, evil powers. Able to convert humanoids into White Walkers, raise corpses into shambling wights, create fissures in the earth with a gesture, and withstand the full onslaught of dragonfire, he has proven himself a difficult force to be reckoned with.
The Night King's essence seeks out another fissure to regenerate his failed body... The Night King laughs quietly to himself, and disappears in a waterfall of tiny ice crystals. The Night King refuses to lower himself or his minions to your level!
A White Walker, servant to the Night King, narrows his eyes at you.
Similar in appearance to the Night King, this White Walker minion has blueish tinted cold looking skin. His ice blue eyes stare intently, filled with a chilly hate for all those living among the warm races. It is said that his attack can shatter all but the most blessed of steel. Narrowing his eyes slightly, he tightens his grip and looks prepared to attack.
The White Walker laughs at your feeble protection from the Night King's power. White Walker says, 'Your puny steel and inferior metals cannot harm me!' The White Walker's powers are greatly reduced due to the influence of the valyrian steel mask. The White Walker draws power from the Night King's dark icy fissure. The White Walker is frustrated in his efforts to draw power from the icy fissure. The White Walker's hand is severed from his body, but doesn't die!

The severed hand of a white walker is grasping for your throat. This hand was severed from the White Walker in battle. However, it does not seem to have figured out that it should have stopped moving...
On White Walker death:
From afar you hear the Night King's voice echo: 'My servant, obey me, you are not done yet!' The White Walker's corpse stands up again as an undead wight.

Wight
A wight animated from the corpse of a white walker obeys the Night King. Though severely damaged, the tattered pieces of the White Walker's corpse have come back together to do their master's bidding one last time.
The wight's hand is severed from his body and begins to crawl about.

The severed hand of a wight is crawling menacingly towards you. This hand was severed from a wight during battle. Just as its undead host, this hand will continue to fight for as long as it can move.

( 1) Zistrosk 10/30/17 The Night King is marshalling his forces... While the Night King's campaign of icy terror has been thwarted, the Arcane Heraldry of Darkhaven has detected a growing aura of cold to the west of DH. Prepare yourselves, honorable Heroes, to repel this threat! Note: This event will start around 8pm mud time on 30 Oct 2017, and is for level 50s only. IP1 on any one character you want. Participation in the previous month long quest is not required to join in.
In addition to a fully powered Night King the questors also had to contend with:
A White Walker Lieutenant
A White Walker Lieutenant to the Night King attacks the legions of light. Tall and lanky, with powerful arms and blue skin everywhere, this cold looking man cooly regards all that come before him with an air of dismissal. He has defeated or turned every assailant that has ever been brave enough to engage him in battle, and clearly expect to do so again. The White Walker Lieutenant trudges on towards Darkhaven.
A White Walker Berserker
A White Walker Berserker to the Night King attacks the legions of light. Berserker to the core, this tall round man is massive in nearly every way that matters. His thick arms look ready to rip up trees, and his muscular legs look strong enough to stomp boulders into dust. His long white beard is stained rust in places, probably from the blood of his slain enemies. Only the bravest would stand a chance against this monolithic behemoth. The White Walker Berserker charges onward towards Darkhaven.
