Maps
There is a decision to make regarding maps. There are some that are huge, and take long to load and cause the page to scroll horizontally. As I see it, there are three paths to be taken:
- Leave maps as they are, scrolling the page but being readable.
- Downsize large maps to 600px or so, making a few illegible but keeping the page layout, and making the user click two links to get to the large map.
- Linking directly to the large map, but not displaying it on the page.
- Having a thumbnail to the right of the page and a caption on it that leads directly to the large version.

- I vote for 1, I believe this will look best and also have the most functionality for small maps. --Poromenos 17:46, 11 September 2005 (CDT)
- #1, unless the map is unbelievably huge like above 2Mb, then #2 --Mezzanine 10:06, 12 September 2005 (CDT)
- I prefer #1 too. Generally when you've navigated to an area page, a fully readable map is the reason. --Tokai 12:08, 13 September 2005 (CDT)
