Realigning is the process of killing some or many mobs in order to return to a desired alignment. This is easier to do in a low-level area where you can kill lots of mobs faster, but slaughtering everything in the area when lowbies are leveling is frowned upon.
For those of evil alignment, realigning can be done quickly and conveniently if you have some vampire candy.
Examples
People often realign in Shattered Refuge because it has a large number of devout mobs (gnomes) and evil mobs (hobgoblins). It's also a popular leveling area though, so it's better to find a more obscure place if you can.
