                            "What in me is dark
Illumine, what is low raise and support
That to the height of this great argument
                       I may assert eternal Providence,
And justify the ways of God to Men."
                                        John Milton, Paradise Lost

Fanatical in their devotion to the Gods, Clerics draw their powers from
the blessings of divinities. Their prayers attain the favor of Deities who
grant them mystical might. While the Cleric is possessed of some martial
prowess, their primary strength is divine magic. Most Clerics share in
common abilities. However, unique abilities are accessible only by
pontiffs of certain deities and alignments. No matter what heavenly power
they praise, the most essential asset of any Cleric is wisdom.
        <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Wisdom without intelligence is useless, so most Clerics hone their wit
almost as sharply as they hone their wisdom. Such intense study leaves
little time for recreation and Clerics are often quite lacking in
dexterity.
        <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Religious devotion and clerical study is possible for Humans, Elves,
Dwarves, Pixies, Half-Elves, Gith, Drow, Sea-Elves, and Gnomes.
